Boston Cannons defense man, Chris Passavia set up an organization over Christmas to help kids in need that are less fortunate than others. For every goal that the Cannons score this year, Passavia and his organization are donating five toys to the Passavia Fund. The toys will be given out next Christmas once all of them are collected at the end of the season. Although Passavia is a defense man and not a goal scorer, he has hope in his team to score over 10 goals a game, which racks up to 50 toys a game! Chris's generosity is truly a kind gesture that will hopefully help out many kids in the Boston area next Christmas.

Top Picks This Year
In this years MLL draft, Kevin Crowley, the 6'2'' midfielder from Stonybrook was the number one draft pick,he was drafted to Hamilton. Being from Boston, I support the Boston Cannons, so I am very excited about the Cannons getting Shamel Bratton from Virginia. Ever since Shamel was introduced to the NCAA his freshman year at Virginia, he has proven himself to be one of the top players in the world. Now, alongside Rabil the Cannons seem to have a bright future ahead of them. The Cannons also picked up Zach Howell from Duke in the 46th round. Although Howell was picked late in the draft, he brought much success to the Duke organization. I am looking forward to watching this years MLL games with the new players.

Defending Champs, Duke Back for More
Last years Duke lacrosse team finished with a record of 16-4. Although they had a few tough losses, they still came up big in the championship game to add another national championship trophy to their collection. This year, Duke has lost some of their main players such as Zach Greer and Matt Danowski and a few other seniors from last year. As one of the younger teams in the league, they could have a tough, rebuilding season this year. But you never know with Duke, anything is possible.
Boston Cannons Stacked for Upcoming Season
The most favored team in the MLL, the Boston Cannons seem to have a great team for the upcoming season. Returning members include Paul Rabil, Mikey Powell, Max Quinzani, Kip Turner and Chris Passavia. With Rabil's ability to get back and play defense and Powell's quick hands and rocket shot, the Cannon's seem to have a bright year ahead of them. Returning starter Kip Turner, will be in the back of the net again this year hoping to rack in over 200 saves this season. Although the Cannons are still a developing team, they are hoping for a successful season this year.
2011 Collegiate MLL Draft
This Friday, the MLL (Major League Lacrosse) will hold the tenth collegiate MLL draft in Baltimore, Maryland. Below is a list of the teams in order of their picks.
- Toronto Nationals
- Rochester Rattlers
- Denver Outlaws
- Boston Cannons
- Long Island Lizards
- Toronto Nationals (From Chesapeake Bayhawks)
Last years, Ned Crotty from Duke University was the overall number one pick. He was drafted to the Chicago Machine. The Chicago Machine are a fairly new team to the MLL, that have had the number one draft pick for the past two seasons. Its time for the MLL to have teams that are more even, rather than one team being stacked with the best players in the league. This years draft should be an exciting one!
